I feel like the week has just rolled away from me, but looking through my goal list for the week, I see I accomplished most of it.  I didn't finish the Midwinter Blessings painting, but I did make significant progress on it.  I got set back a day thanks to the marathon admin work session I did yesterday, but today, I'm going to be focusing a bit more on the art.  I have a bigger commissioned piece for a book cover that will take precedence, but I'll also put in an hour or so on the Midwinter piece.  (It might be done by Spring at this rate, but hey, at least it'll get done)

I feel like next week will give me more time to focus on the art, now that I've got the SilverFlame Art Site set up properly, as well as my Patreon Page, which was almost as daunting a task as the main site itself due to the large amount of copy I needed to write for it.

I'm considering what to do with this blog.  I definitely want to keep posting to it every day, but I don't want it to be just a copy of the main site blog.  For now, I'll just post daily snippets and images like I've been doing and keep linking back to the site and Events.  I debated briefly whether or not to open the community for other members to post, but I wasn't sure what effect if any that would have.  What would you all post about here if I were to do that?

It's been one of those days when I've been nonstop working, but it feels like I got hardly anything done.  I finished up two big projects, though-- completion of the SilverFlame Art web site and setting up the SilverFlame Art Patreon site.  I've added Galleries to the main site, and also added a Supporters Page to give a little back to everyone who has provided feedback, encouragement, and commission work.  I'll probably be doing something a bit more elaborate with the Supporters Page eventually, but for now it's just a list with links.  If I've listed you and you'd rather me link to something else or list you under another name/title, let me know and I'll fix is asap.

All that, and I haven't even gotten to the artwork yet today.  I suppose that's okay, though; sometimes you just need an admin day to catch up.

Patreon is a patron site that provides a means for fans to support their favorite artists, creators, and projects. Come take a look and support SilverFlame Art! I’m offering lots of great perks and free gifts for supporters!

It seems that starting with a detailed grayscale piece before adding color is working.  I've been focusing on her dress today, at least the velvet part of it.  The dress was about two hours of work.

Wow, these past two days have been insanely busy!  I've been juggling numerous points on my bullet list for the week.  Somewhere in all of that I've managed several hours of art time.  It's amazing how much the life of a freelancer/crowdfunder is spent doing administrative tasks.

I've built the new site!  There are still a few details to finish up with, but SilverFlame Art is up and running.  I'd prefer to have a little more flexibility in the design of the site, but I feel that having an active network such as wordpress.com is more important.  I do rather enjoy putting web sites together, though, so I've been having a lot of fun with this.

The "Midwinter Blessings" piece-- I spent an hour or two on it today.  I've decided to implement a technique I've used in the past which I've had some good success with, starting out with a detailed grayscale painting and then moving on to paint over it in color.  I've pulled the figure into a separate document and have been refining the line art and blocking in values.  It's still pretty loose, but I think the face is finally looking more like I wanted it to.  I certainly hope she's finally become more amenable to having her portrait painted!  Here's a detail cut of the face:

I still have quite a bit to get done today before I can quit for the night, but it's dinnertime and I need to go pretend to be a domestic goddess for a little while first.  ;)

Also!  Don't forget that I'm still open for this week's $5 Sketch Event and Character Art Event.

Good morning, friends!  Today starts off the first official week of the new year for SilverFlame Art.  I have a long list of goals to work towards today and this week, from actual art to the more administrative end of things.  I find some level of enjoyment from both (and at times frustration!).

First off, I'm kicking off this week's Events on the SilverFlame Art site.  The $5 Sketch Event and Character Art Event have their own weekly landing pages over there now,  As with Livejournal, you don't need an account to comment.

As always, the $5 Sketch Event is a sketch prompt event.  You can leave a prompt, such as a one-word prompt ("transcendence or "fear", for instance), or something a bit more detailed.  Be sure to read all the info on the landing page before you prompt!  Click the image for the link.

Character Art Events are another weekly comission-based event in which you can request art based on your original characters.  Again, be sure to read all the information before commenting with your request.  Click the image for the link.

Another goal for this week is the completion of the tenaciously rebellious Solstice Faerie, which I will also be working on today.  And I'll be taking the first steps towards turning the SilverFlame Art site into something resembling a nice-looking site instead of the hodgepodge of infinitely scrolling posts it is right now.  Oh, and I'll do a little work on the Zazzle shop.  And get the old, rarely used SilverFlame Graphics Twitter set up for SilverFlame Art with a post or two (I hope I remember the login).  And and and...

Yeah.  Busy day.

Hope everyone's well!

Good morning, friends!  Tomorrow kicks off the start of the New Year for SilverFlame Art.  I've been working up some ideas and thoughts on how to better implement all the things I want to do with SFA, and tomorrow begins that implementation.

First of all, I'm going to be working on adding content to the SilverFlame Art Wordpress site, making it the central hub as well as a functioning web site.  I know for certain that I'll add gallery pages, for starters, and probably a static front page.  I'm going to be posting Event landing pages there from now on as well, though I'll still be using this community on a daily basis (one of my goals for the upcoming year-- post more things to all the things).  I would like to eventually get one of the premium accounts (probably the business account), when I'm bringing enough income to justify the expense, but for now, the free account works.  So tomorrow morning, I'll be opening for Events on Wordpress, with a post here to link back to it.  As with Livejournal, you don't need a Wordpress account to comment.  If you get blocked by the spam filter, let me know and I'll fiddle with the settings.

This coming week, I'll also be finishing up the Solstice Faerie, Faerie willing.  I've moved away from her face for a bit to focus on her clothing.  Something still bugs me about her face, but maybe finishing up the rest of it first before I complete the features will help freshen my perspective on it.

One of my biggest goals of this coming year is getting organized, learning to pace myself, and picking up my drawing/painting speed.  What are your goals and resolutions for the new year?

Yes, I am still working on it.  Trying a different angle.  I think it's closer to "right" than it has been previously, but I'm still not happy with it.  But I also think I've redrawn/repainted the face so many times that everything I do is going to look like a mistake, so I think I'll work on the hair or dress today and leave the finishing touches on the face for another day (including the eyes).

If you are more at home on Dreamwidth, I've created a mirror over there, so please come follow if you like!  I've put up a few older posts, but I'll be mirroring everything from now on (except for this link post, which is a slightly higher level of redundancy than mirrors).

Hello, friends!  As you can see, I've opened up shop for this week's Events.  As we're still in a holiday cycle, things may be a bit slow, but I'll still get to everything requested.

Today, I'm also going to tackle the stubborn faerie painting again.  I'm hoping that the little rest has made her more amenable to being painted.  I'll be redrawing the face to begin with, perhaps with a different angle.

The holidays were spent around family in quiet celebration.  We enjoyed a lovely feast of smoked turkey with all the trimmings and watched A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim playing Scrooge.

How was the week for all of you?  I hope everyone had a pleasant week regardless of whether or not you celebrate.
